MOPS International encourages and equips moms of young children to realize their potential as mothers, women and leaders, in relationship with Jesus, and in partnership with the local church.
at Austin Oaks Church
The goal of MOPS at Austin Oaks Church is to come beside the moms in our community in order to share in the joys and trials of motherhood. Through regular meetings, small group events and the prayerful support of a dedicated leadership team, we pray that we can equip the moms in our city to be the best moms they can be.

Austin Oaks Church has two MOPS groups (called Hugs and Kisses), which are identical in format and structure. Austin Oaks Church’s MOPS groups alternate Friday meeting dates. Each meeting is held on Friday mornings from 9:00 to 11:30 am, September through May. Childcare is available and features a Christian-based curriculum, where your kids will make friends and have fun.

About MOPS International

MOPS is a grassroots movement that believes moms are world influencers.

We also believe that incubating hearts and giving just-because-hugs can change the course of history. That’s why we connect moms all over the world to a community of women, in their own neighborhoods, who meet together to laugh, cry and embrace the journey of motherhood. MOPS groups are rallying women to be more honest, to feel more equipped and to find our identity by journeying along side one another.

MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, and by preschoolers we mean kiddos from birth through kindergarten. We know it’s a little confusing so let’s just stick with “MOPS.”

We are moms, and we believe that better moms make a better world.
Melissa Jackson
Melissa is married to Lucas and is a stay at home mom to two year old daughter, Paislee with baby #2 arriving this fall! Melissa is passionate about supporting other moms throughout the journey of motherhood and how faith connects so intricately with it.  In addition, Melissa works part time as a medical social worker for a hospice agency in Austin and volunteers in the youth ministry of Austin Oaks Church as a middle school small group leader.  Melissa is a coffee connoisseur and her guilty pleasure is chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.

Bible promises I love are
"The LORD is my refuge and strength; an ever preset help in times of trouble" ....
"Be still and know that I am God."
Shannon Venable
Shannon and her husband Todd have three little boys, Cade, 8, Jake, 5, and Hayes, 3. Even though Shannon is a girly girl, she loves being a boy mom! Keeping up with her boys keeps her busy these days, but before kids Shannon pursued her career as an attorney. She understands how transitioning into motherhood can make a mom question her identity, and loves walking with moms on this journey. When she gets a chance, Shannon's favorite thing is to relax in the bath with a good book!
